Designing a space around art work.

Everyone goes though a different process when they create a space. I do as well. Sometimes I plan out the larger scale look that I’m going for and start with things such as feature walls and colors.

Other times I end up falling in love with a piece of artwork and design a space around that one piece.

I recently fell in love with a piece of artwork that I found from a company called photowall. I am going to show you the space I created for it.

This is the piece that I’m going to create a space for. There is just something about this thst is so eye catching and calming to me. The natural colored frame paired with the gold and black just makes this piece so lovely.

When I first saw this print, I immediately knew I wanted to pair it with a sideboard piece. I searched for one that matched the colors of this print, white doors and a natural color frame would be perfect. I didn’t want to pair it with a darker piece, I wanted this space to be full of neutral colors to mimic the look of the artwork.

Now that I found the perfect side board it was time to look for some other fun pieces for the space. Adding a light with neutral tones to it and a gold base was just what this look needed. I love the base of this light. The lines work so well with the design of the doors.

I also love working some some accent colours when I create spaces too. The black of the birds in the picture pairs so well with these dark vases. I chose to add two vases to the right side as opposed to one. Adding different numbers of pieces is more visually appealing to the eye when you look at the space as whole. I like the single branch in the vase, I feel it ties in well with the picture. Gives the look just What it needs without adding to much.

I absolutely love adding a touch of greenery to any space I transform. I feel in moody spaces or neutral spaces, its added that extra little bit of color and makes the space feel fresh. I added in three matching greenery pieces to the centre of this look. I also love how all three pieces have a slightly different shade to them.

Lastly, I chose to add in this runner. I think it pairs so well with the blue tones in the vases and adds that extra little bit of color.

Was you add pieces to a space, if you don’t love it immediately, I never feel that’s a good piece for you. Leave it and move on and search for that piece that speaks to you.

I love this look that I created based around the one print I got from photowall.
